Please note: this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role:

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Program Manager to join our dynamic Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation team.

The Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by overseeing Canadian Blood Services national organ sharing programs, increasing transplantation rates, and improving patient outcomes.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, developing, executing, managing, and implementing projects and initiatives to advance living donation and transplantation and the Kidney Paired Donation Program on a national level. You will work with internal team members, volunteer external health care providers, (including physicians, nurses, and executive level individuals), external consultants, patient partners, and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives, while managing costs and delivering on time.

Formula for success:

Utilizing your ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and
partnerships to advance initiatives, you will be responsible for all aspects of managing committees consisting of external volunteers, including meeting planning and preparation, development of minutes and discussion documents on clinical issues, and following action items through to completion.

Leveraging your excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, you will develop, manage, and review policies and procedures, and develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences both in-person and using virtual meeting technology.

Drawing on your strong project skills including the ability to plan, execute, monitor, and close multiple projects at any one time, you will partner with, support, and cross-cover for the manager who oversees our well-established, yet continually evolving, interprovincial Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) program.

Concentrating on your ability to conceptualize and analyze complex issues, interpret system needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions, you will help to evaluate data and statistics for opportunities to improve the KPD program and identify and articulate change requirements to our IT partners to enhance and improve the web-based KPD registry.

Focusing on your continuous growth mindset and adherence to tight deadlines, you will work closely with the Associate Director to develop and deliver on strategic multi-year workplans to advance living donation and transplantation in Canada that align with the corporate plan and meet internal and external benchmarking and measures, prepare verbal and written reports to internal executive committees and federal and provincial funders.

Desired education and skills:

Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution. A strong preference will be for a university degree in a health-related field.

Ideally, a minimum of 10 years of related experience in health care, with 5 years’ experience managing projects. A strong preference will be for a candidate with clinical experience.

Knowledge of and experience in a hospital-based Canadian organ and tissue donation and transplantation program will be considered a strong asset.

Knowledge and experience managing multiple large scale complex projects.

Experience in successfully managing a small team, including training, mentoring, and directing staff while exhibiting corporate leadership values. Experience managing offsite staff will be considered an asset.
Strong background in development and management of clinical 3PGs; policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines.

Clear and careful verbal and written communication skills in English. An ability to communicate in French will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of project management methodology will be considered an asset.

Knowledge of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Canada will be considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

What you can expect:

This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.

Travel will be required to attend internal meetings and meetings with externals stakeholders as well as attend key conferences.
