Job Postings > Multi-Organ Transplant Fellowship Program - Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry
The Multi-Organ Transplant Program is one of the leading transplant programs in Canada, performing about 160 transplants annually. Almost 5,000 Canadians have received transplants, including heart, kidney, kidney-pancreas, liver, and multi-organ transplantation, at University Hospital and Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre.
Currently, the Multi-Organ Transplant Program has Fellows in kidney transplantation (both surgery and nephrology) and liver transplantation (surgery and hepatology). Kidney transplant Fellows will also gain experience with kidney-pancreas transplantation.
The Fellowship Program is accredited with the American Society of Transplant Surgeons http://www.asts.org/fellowshiptraining/jobboard.aspx for surgical training in kidney and liver transplantation. Fellowships are usually two years in duration; after training, Fellows are competent in all aspects of transplantation including multi-organ procurement, pre-transplant assessment, operative and perioperative care (including immunosuppression), and long-term followup.
