Job Description / Duties

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health, invites applications for physician trained in Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation to be based at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff.

The Division of Nephrology & Immunology, in conjunction with the Northern Alberta Renal Program (NARP), is responsible for the largest renal failure program administered by any single centre in Canada with the largest group located at the University of Alberta Hospital site. Division members located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and at the Grey Nuns Hospital largely regulate their own clinical/professional affairs, under the NARP umbrella.

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Nephrology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), and have special training in kidney transplantation.

Individuals interested in the education of trainees and strong interest in promotion of living related kidney transplantation are encouraged to apply.

Key accountabilities of this individual will include, but will not be limited to inpatient and outpatient management of kidney transplant, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis as well as satellite dialysis and outpatient nephrology.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (A-ARP),which offers a very competitive remuneration package with excellent benefits.
