Dear CST members,
March 20, 2020 - Over the last few weeks, developments surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak have been in a constant state of flux. These are unprecedented times and we appreciate that many of our members are on the frontlines of this outbreak and working diligently to maintain the health and safety of their entire communities. As the medical community navigates this challenge together, our highest priority remains caring for our patients. To this effect, CST has suspended most activities not related to the continuously evolving COVID-19 situation.
Members of our board are working closely with Canadian Blood Services and the Organ Donation and Transplantation Expert Advisory Committee (ODTEAC) to develop consensus guidance for organ donation and transplantation services during the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be meeting weekly with the ODTEAC and updates will be posted as they arise on our newly created information page for COVID-19.
Although there is much uncertainty as the situation evolves, at this time the 2020 Canadian Transplant Summit will proceed as planned. However, we understand that this in an incredibly busy time for all our members and all activities related to the Summit will be on hold until further notice. The grants and award nominations and abstract system will remain open, and we will reassess all key deadlines related to the Summit once activities resume. Please check the Summit website for updates related to the 2020 Canadian Transplant Summit.
We will continue to closely monitor the developments related to COVID-19 and keep you updated and informed. If you have questions, please contact info@cst-transplant.ca.
Please take care of yourselves and stay safe!
Sincerely,
Joseph Kim, CST President
